A BRADFORD woman is set to open a new cake shop later this year after seeing a staggering amount of success.
Bethany Mallinson, owner of Beth’s Bakes, has been baking cakes ever since she was a little girl alongside her nana and is now opening her very own cake shop.
The store is set to open in October on Wibsey Bank, offering homemade bakes as well as personalised orders.
Beth, 28, from Wibsey, said: “I started in 2016 doing it just for friends and family, making brownies for people at work, and then I stopped in lockdown, took a break as it wasn’t something I wanted to do.
“I was working full time and then I went on maternity leave and thought I’d start it up again just as a side thing, but I didn’t think it would take off as well as it did.
“I’ve been inundated with orders and my kitchen doesn’t have the capacity.
“When I saw the lease go up, I knew I had to get in there quickly and now I’m really excited to get the shop open.”
Beth started taking orders again in January of this year and is taking at least five orders a week for cakes and feels she’s ready to get a bigger space for her baking.
“I’m currently a full-time mum whilst my little girl is at home, so I’m baking, then going to check on her, and then going back to it.
“So hopefully when she’s at the childminders in September, I’ll be able to get a bit more done and take on more orders.
“I’m hoping to get two staff members on board to help out with the shop.”
Beth has handed in her notice at her job as an attendance officer at a school to make baking her full-time job.
“I just love my baking and I love the feedback I get from my customers.
“Baking is my passion, so I’m excited to get the store open in October.
“I’m working on the shop, decorating it how I want it to be, and I can’t wait to see the result.”
The store will be opening for customers to pop in and buy traybakes and brownies, as well as place orders for celebration cakes, wedding cakes, and cupcakes.
“I love baking and my family has been supportive.”
