A BRADFORD district man has set off on a fundraising walking challenge to raise money for two charities.
Bingley's Jeffrey Long MBE, a former paratrooper, is heading out on another epic endeavour - covering 100km this month in aid of Bowel Cancer UK and Blood Cancer UK.
The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Gerry Barker give Jeffrey a civic send-off at 2pm on Wednesday from the Kirklands Centre, in Menston.
Jeffrey, who will turn 92 this October, has raised approximately £400,000 from his previous fundraising challenges, since 2007.
For the last five years, Jeffrey has been receiving daily chemotherapy for cancer.
The 91-year-old also walks with a back injury he sustained in 1954 when his parachute malfunctioned and he fell several hundred feet to the ground.
He now walks with a limp and a walking stick, restricting how many miles he can achieve per day.
