People whose lives have been affected by dementia have been urged to reach out for support.
Bradford’s Dementia Hub is helping both parents and carers overcome their fears and face the future.
Held monthly at the University of Bradford, Dementia Hub brings together organisations such as Carers' Resource, Community Links, Affinity Care and Pathways, as well as specialist Admiral Nurses from Dementia UK.
Susan Commons recently attended Dementia Hub with her husband Patrick, who has been diagnosed with dementia.
She said: "You know there are local services out there to help, but it’s good to put faces to those services.”
The care trust’s health promotion team is also on hand to discuss how memory boxes, jigsaws and other activities can help and their palliative care team.
People can also access positive advice as well as practical support for carers.
Admiral nurse Daisy Rae said: “We understand that people sometimes get overwhelmed with the amount of information they receive. We want to help them find the support that works for them.”
Dementia Hubs will be held at the Bright Building, University of Bradford, between 6pm and 8pm, on August 21, September 25, and October 30.
