AN upturned kayak caused a huge emergency response to attend the River Wharfe this afternoon.
Police and the fire service scrambled to part of the river near Otley Bridge.
They were responding to a caller who had seen the kayak caught in the reeds.
The fire service conducted a full search of the area and no people were found.
Firefighters then spoke to the owner of the kayak who also indicated there was nobody in the kayak as it had become loose from its moorings.
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called at 4.50pm on Tuesday by a caller reporting seeing an upturned kayak caught in reeds in the River Wharfe near to Otley Bridge in Otley.
"Officers are assisting the fire service who are conducting a full search of the area.
"Police have been updated that the owner of the kayak has been located and the incident has now been resolved."
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) added: "A kayak has come loose from its moorings.
"No persons were found after a full search.
"One of the crew members is with the owner of the kayak that had come loose from its moorings.
"The call was received at 4.55pm and it stated a blue kayak was stuck among the reeds.
"There was nothing to indicate anybody was in the kayak.
"Crews from Rawdon, Cookridge, Bingley, and Leeds attended."
