A MAN agreed to buy a motorbike for £5,400 and then didn't send the money.
Krishan Patel, 25, of Grovelands, in Bolton Outlanes, Bradford was jailed at Kirklees Magistrates' Court on Wednesday for fraud by false representation.
He originally denied the offence at Leeds Magistrates' Court on June 1 but gave a guilty plea on the same day he was sentenced.
The 25-year-old "dishonestly made a false representation" when he agreed to buy a motorbike for £5,400 in Birkenshaw on July 16 last year and did not send the money, according to court records.
These show that Patel was "intending to make a gain" by doing so.
Patel was sentenced to 16 weeks behind bars.
Court records said the reason for jailtime was "the offence(s) are so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified".
Patel was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £154 to fund victim services.
