A HISTORIC Bradford to Morecambe car run will take place next month. 

Held on September 3, the event will be in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. 

It will form part of the Vintage by the Sea Festival in Morecambe.

The Lancashire resort has long-standing links with Bradford and was known as 'Bradford-on-Sea'. 

This year, the event has a new organiser, Andy Wright, after the previous organiser Gerry Watson made the decision to retire from his role.

"I would like to thank Gerry and Cindy Watson for running the event for many years and the charities they helped along the way and thank you for the help and support they have given me so far," said Mr Wright. 

"For this year's event the cars will set off from home and meet up in Morecambe opposite the Winter Gardens, just before the Midland Hotel.

"The entry fee will be £5 per vehicle, also anyone who would like to make a donation will be gratefully accepted. The monies will be collected on the day in the Marie Curie buckets provided."

The closing date for entries is August 18.
