A WOMAN has bravely spoken about how she overcame a battle with mental health after losing two family members.
Amy Jackson, 28, started experiencing anxiety when her stepfather and auntie died.
She managed to cope through medication before realising she needed to seek extra help.
Amy said: "I was trying to support my mum and didn’t deal with the bereavement or grieve properly myself.
"I didn’t know what to do with any sort of emotion I felt or how to deal with it.
"I didn’t want to leave the house or see people. I shut myself off, which didn’t help with the depression.
"I was on and off medication and I felt so bad that I was willing to try anything to tackle the issue.”
Amy was referred to MyWellbeing IAPT, a service offered by Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, now called NHS Talking Therapies.
"The NHS Talking Therapies course was absolutely brilliant and being in a group setting was actually a lot better for me," she said.
"This made me realise that other people were feeling the same as me, so I didn’t feel abnormal for being anxious or having low mood."
