A MAN has been fined £400 for being drunk while on a plane.
Shane Gilrane, 29, of Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland, was sentenced for the offence last month.
He faced one charge of entering an aircraft when drunk/being drunk in aircraft, which he pleaded guilty to on July 19, 2023.
Court documents state that Gilrane, at Leeds Bradford Airport was "drunk in an aircraft, namely a Boeing 737 Ryanair flight 016 from Dublin to Newcastle."
Gilraine was fined £400 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £160, making a total £560 that he must pay. A collection order was made by the court at the sentencing hearing.
Gilraine pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on July 24, 2023.
