A MAN who claimed that his car had been stolen in a burglary has been warned by a judge that he will almost certainly receive a prison sentence.
Mark Mitchell, 33, of Hawthorn Close, Keighley, pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday to intending to pervert the course of public justice by making a report of a burglary to the police on July 28, 2021.
He also admitted committing fraud by dishonestly making a false representation that a car had been stolen intending to make a gain for himself in the region of £7,000.
Judge Jonathan Rose adjourned sentence until next Tuesday for a report to be prepared by the probation service.
He enlarged Mitchell’s bail until then but warned him that a prison sentence was ‘almost inevitable’ for the grave offences.
