A man has been handed a large fine for littering after dropping a can of cola.
Mohammed Khalil, of Brighton Street, Heckmondwike, was caught leaving the can behind last year.
The incident itself took place on Bradford Road in Batley on March 13, 2022.
The 52-year-old case recently went before Kirklees Magistrates Court where he was charged with littering and fined £220.
With costs and surcharges, the man was ordered to pay £404 to the courts.
The case was brought by Kirklees Council under the Environmental Protection Act, which covers throwing down, leaving or otherwise depositing litter.
The defendant was not present for the hearing, which took place on July 27.
Magistrates also imposed a collection order to ensure the money is paid to the court.
