POLICE have issued a warning to owners of a car model following a spate of thefts in a certain area.
Offenders seem to be targeting Ford Fiestas in the Kirklees area of West Yorkshire.
On Old Lane in Birkenshaw, a Ford Fiesta was taken between June 25 and 27.
Between July 7 and 8, at Pyenot Gardens, Marsh, in Cleckheaton, a Ford Fiesta was stolen and subsequently found abandoned at the rear of Fifth Avenue East, Liversedge.
A Ford Fiesta was also taken from Houldsworth Avenue, Heckmondwike, recently.
At Hazel Avenue, Chickenley, a Ford Fiesta was found unattended at Drighlington and subsequently recovered.
A spokesperson from the force added: "There has been a number of Ford Fiesta cars broken into and or stolen within Kirklees of which we are starting to see an increase in this kind of offending.
"Trends suggest that vehicles with keyless entry systems are becoming more vulnerable to theft due to the availability of key hacking devices.
"This, along with the fact that production of the Ford Fiesta has now ceased, has resulted in an increase in the price of Fiesta parts putting these vehicles at higher risk of theft."
