ANOTHER new bar is opening in a prominent area of Bradford city centre, bringing back into action empty premises.
The Brass Owl on North Parade has been renovated and refitted in time for the top-of-town street’s “Welcome Back Bash” on Saturday.
The event marks the completion of the £2 million works that included widening the pavements and reducing car parking on the street.
A soft launch for The Brass Owl will take place this evening (Friday) for family and friends, before the doors officially open to the public on Saturday.
The bar is owned by two familiar Bradford faces. Jamie Hill and Laura Wigglesworth – known as Lau - are “chomping at the bit” to get started.
Speaking about launching on the Welcome Back Bash weekend, Jamie said: “It’s going to be a fantastic party atmosphere, celebrating everything the street has to offer, so it seemed the natural time to open.
He added: “We’re incredibly excited and can’t wait to welcome everyone to the new place.”
The Brass Owl has taken the place of Plonk.
Lau said: “The support from our friends and hopefully soon-to-become regulars has been astounding when we announced the opening on our social media page.
“We’re absolutely blown away by the reaction from folk.”
Lau added: “Opening our own bar was a natural progression from our years of working on the scene and being located on North Parade is awesome, operating amongst our friends.
“The top of town has an incredible sense of community; everyone helps each other out, and we feel really lucky to be a part of it going forward.”
The owners are keen to ensure they complement the current offering on North Parade and will be serving a range of premium beers and ciders, as well as spirits, shooters and cocktails.
Lau said: “We have an incredible amount of events and nights planned, and will be launching these in the near future.
“It’s really important to us that we are offering exactly what our customers want and will be extending our drinks range and entertainment over time to reflect this.
“We have been asked what vibe we’re going with, and honestly, we’re pretty fluid with it.
“We’re excited to be able to provide a place where everyone feels safe and is genuinely welcomed and accepted.
“From hip-hop to punk-pop and 80s to chart cheese, there’s definitely something for everyone.”
