A NEW Morrisons convenience store is to open in Bradford next month.

The Bradford-based supermarket chain is opening a branch of its Morrisons Daily convenience store at the McColl’s shop on Otley Road, Barkerend.

A sign on the window of the shop confirms the Morrisons branch is set to open at 7am on August 4, after the McColl's store closes on July 27 at 5pm.

A Morrisons spokesman said: "The new Morrisons Daily fresh food convenience store will offer customers a carefully tailored mix of Morrisons own brand products alongside branded favourites.

“As well as new ranges, the store has received a complete redesign internally and externally, incorporating Morrisons' bright, modern branding.

“Fresh food is at the heart of the store and we hope customers will love it."

The supermarket giant has converted around 500 McColl’s convenience stores into Morrisons Daily shops, since buying the rival out of administration in May last year.

Morrisons announced earlier this month that it is to start stocking its own-brand budget food and household products in 500 of its convenience stores over the coming weeks.

The supermarket chain said it is bringing its Savers range to the shelves of its Morrisons Daily stores, despite convenience stores typically not stocking lower-cost products.

The company already has a number of Morrisons Daily stores in Bradford including on Allerton Road, Tong Street, and Broadstone Way.
