A VILLAGE has once again been recognised in the prestigious Green Flag awards.
East Bierley was awarded the coveted Green Flag Community Award, meaning it's officially recognised as one of the country’s best parks and open spaces.
It's the fifth time the village has received the accolade.
Paul Todd MBE, Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award scheme manager, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved at East Bierley in achieving a Green Flag Community Award for the fifth time.
“East Bierley Village is a vital green space for the community in Kirklees, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles.
“The volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award, and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, rewards well-managed parks and green spaces.
