A POST office which relocated from Gilstead to Bingley has celebrated its move with a grand opening.
The Post Office agreed to relocate its site in Gilstead from Gilstead Lane to Ferncliffe Stores, Ferncliffe Road, Bingley.
Explaining the move, a Post Office spokesperson said the postmaster at Gilstead had wished to leave the network.
Ferncliffe Stores will operate as a local style branch with a Post Office serving point alongside the retail counter of the convenience store.
Sayed Ahmed, new postmaster at the Fencliffe Stores Post Office branch, said: "We opened our post office on Tuesday but had our grand opening on Friday."
He added: "Ferncliffe Stores has been a family-run business since 2008. Our first few days of running the post office have been absolutely brilliant."
Bingley Town councillor Geoff Winnard cut the ribbon to officially announce the reopening.
Tig Khehra, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “It has been a tough assignment however we are delighted to be restoring a Post Office to this area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.”
Open daily from 8am to 6pm, the new Post Office will provide an extra 25 hours of service a week.
The Post Office is open from 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm Saturday. It is closed on Sunday.
It comes after a public consultation in April and June.
