A NEW headteacher is excited to continue the 'Good' work at a Bradford school following its recent Ofsted rating.
Biman Dey has a career in education spanning more than 20 years and took up the position at Beckfoot Upper Heaton School, off Thorn Lane on Bingley Road, in May.
Mr Dey joined the school shortly after its Ofsted inspection in May.
Inspectors praised the school’s “ambitious curriculum”, “variety of sports and science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) clubs”, and staff and students upholding the core values of “excellence, integrity and kindness.”
Alongside this, the report highlighted the “strong subject knowledge” the teachers have, which encourages students to engage with the curriculum and ensures that they “can confidently tackle new learning.”
Mr Dey will be using his new position within the school to continue developing a highly ambitious curriculum and to embed a model of excellence for pedagogy.
He said: "It has been an exciting few weeks since I joined Beckfoot Upper Heaton.
"I feel privileged to be in a position where I can serve this community.
"I am looking forward to working closely with parents, the team at Beckfoot Upper Heaton and the wider community in building on the positive Ofsted and delivering an excellent education.
"We are all highly ambitious for all our students and for our school.
“We were really pleased with the outcome of the Ofsted inspection, as I know staff, across the school and Trust have worked very hard to support students and provide them with an excellent education.
"We will continue building on the already strong offer available at the school, so all our young people can thrive and reach their full potential."
Shirley Watson, CEO of Beckfoot Trust said: “We are absolutely delighted to have appointed Biman to such a crucial role at Beckfoot Upper Heaton School and within our trust.
"His experience and passion for the education sector is second to none and we are confident that his knowledge and leadership attributes will be invaluable for this role.
"Biman is a values-driven leader and is entirely aligned to our Trust mission of ‘creating remarkable schools where no child is left behind.
“The recent Ofsted success is a firm platform for Biman and the team at Beckfoot Upper Heaton to continue to build a values-driven, highly ambitious vision for the school.
"On behalf of our Trust, I’d like to thank the entire Upper Heaton community for their hard work, support and openness during a period of change.”
