SHIPLEY in Bloom are aiming to impress judges of the annual Yorkshire in Bloom Summer competition when they visit the town.

Shipley in Bloom is a scheme developed by Shipley Town Council to help make the area a brighter and more colourful space where nature can thrive. The campaign aims to do this through community-based horticultural projects, clean-ups and environmental initiatives that bring together people from across the four wards in the town.

The volunteer run group was awarded a silver medal last year in the ‘Large Town’ category after a 10-year absence from the competition, and are hoping this year’s entry, which includes more than 15 locations around the town, will wow the Yorkshire in Bloom judges.

From Shipley Library Garden to the edible gardens at Wycliffe Primary School and the Hirst Wood Nature Reserve, all the entry locations will be visited by the judging panel between 2pm and 4.30pm on Monday, July 17.

A list of the Shipley in Bloom locations is available on the Shipley Town Council website, shipleytowncouncil.gov.uk and a trail map is being produced that showcases all the displays, alongside other green spaces in Shipley for the public to enjoy and will be free to download later this month.
