A PERSON who intervened in an alleged altercation at a Bradford football club was injured and police are investigating the incident as an "assault occasioning actual bodily harm".
The incident reportedly took place yesterday (Friday) at a youth football match at Thackley AFC, in Ainsbury Avenue, Thackley.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 11.08pm yesterday, police received a report of a man having been assaulted when he intervened in an altercation between two other men at a youth football match at Thackley AFC, in Ainsbury Avenue, Thackley.
"A crime has been recorded for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and officers are arranging to see the victim to take further details and progress the investigation."
A person who witnessed the incident said the assault took place in front of young players and that the victim lost a tooth in the altercation.
The onlooker said: "The incident really shocked the players, parents and spectators.
The onlooker also said the incident was "disgraceful to witness".
