A NEW fashion store has opened in a Bradford city centre unit.

34 Darley Street, opposite the recently closed Al's Juke Bar, has been vacant on and off since Nationwide left the premises mid-way through the 2010s.

Tanveer Ahmad has taken it on and opened another H&K Fashion LTD - building on the success he has had at his shop inside Oastler Shopping Centre since 2003.

H&K Fashion, which began trading on Darley Street earlier this month, sells ready-made suits, ladies' wear, abayas, scarves, headwear/hijabs, men's wear, jubah, and accessories.

Mr Ahmad will be running the shop alongside his two daughters.

Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus, Mera Ahmad said: "My father has brought his wealth of experience to this new venture.

"He has always wanted his own shop outside of the market. Something he can call his own.

"34 Darley Street came up and we thought it was a brilliant location to expand the business and bring something new to the city centre.

"Business has been good (so far). It was busy in the run-up to Eid and then the support from customers has continued.

"With our central location in Bradford city centre, we aim to serve not only the local community but also attract visitors from across the region."

The shop is appealing to those looking for reliable and affordable clothing.

Its slogan is 'Modern.Modest.Fashion' and Mera feels they have seized upon a gap in the market.

She added: "We are trying to cater for all communities. Building a reliable, affordable brand is the goal.

"There is nothing like us in the city centre, that sells what we do at good prices.

"We are not really competing with anyone in the city centre so we can be affordable.

"A lot of people have been surprised when discovering us. It is your one-stop shop for a bit of everything.

"It is not just Asianwear, it is also Englishwear, religious garments, jewellery, perfume, and a bit of everything.

"We are looking to support the community in any way possible. We want to bring more life to the city centre."

Mr Ahmad is to also move his original shop into the new Darley Street Market once that is up and running next year.
