A 43-YEAR-old man has avoided an immediate jail term after being caught with an offensive weapon in public.
Mohammed Kamran appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced for one charge of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
The incident took place on January 28, 2022, at Heaton Road in Bradford, and involved Kamran in possession of a kitchen knife.
Kamran, of Dale Grove, Nottingham, received a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, at the hearing which took place on June 21.
Court documents show this was because the offence was found to be so serious.
He was also ordered to pay £239 to the courts, £85 of which was in costs. An order was also made for the forfeiture and destruction of the knife.
