DOUBLE yellow lines and junction improvements are among the road safety measures that will be carried out in the Bradford South area in the next year.
But dozens of other schemes that have been requested by residents and Councillors are unlikely to be considered until next Summer at the earliest.
Councillors from the constituency were given a list of the works that will be carried out at a meeting of the Bradford South Area Committee on Thursday.
Each of the Council’s five area committees are given £110,000 each year to allocate to road safety schemes in their area.
Members were told that in the coming year work to improve road safety on Beacon Road will be granted a huge chunk of this - £50,000.
There have been 16 crashes on the road in the last five years.
£17,000 is being set aside for work to improve the junction of Hutton Road and Southfield Road.
£20,000 will be used to make highways throughout the constituency more. £5,000 will be spent on creating blue badge parking spaces, and £3,000 on traffic surveys.
£15,000 is being spent on 19 traffic regulation orders, including more double yellow lines and waiting restrictions.
New double yellows will installed, among other places, at the corner of Northside Terrace and Northside Road, near Dixons Kings Academy, to prevent drivers from parking on a corner while visiting a convenience store.
