CRIMES across Bradford have risen by 10 per cent since the beginning of the year, according to the latest monthly police data.

There were a total of 7,012 crimes reported to West Yorkshire Police across the district in April.

The figures from the data.police.uk website show that this compares to 6,830 in March, 6,500 in February and 6,375 in January – a rise of 10.0 Per cent since the first month of the year.

The most common reported crime was violence and sexual offences, where there were 2,928 in April, followed by 808 public order offences and 611 incidents of anti-social behaviour.

In addition there were 594 reports of criminal damage and arson, with “other theft” coming it at 424. This includes theft by an employee, blackmail and making off without payment.

There were also 387 burglaries, 379 vehicle crimes, 291 incidents of shoplifting and 212 “other crimes”, which includes forgery, perjury and other miscellaneous crime.

Drugs offences totalled 156, and there were 80 robberies, 69 theft from the person reports, 44 possession of a weapon incidents and 29 bicycle thefts.
