AN historic Bradford district pub is set to welcome back customers next week when it officially re-opens.

The Beehive, Saltaire Road, Shipley, is set to open its doors to the public on Friday, June 16 from 4pm to breathe new life in the old venue.

The pub, which dates back to the Victorian era, closed in late 2021 and was previously known as the Shipley Pride.

The pub previously closed in 2016, but re-opened the following year.

The site features a traditional-style cask ale pub, with a cellar bar area downstairs. This is accompanied by a large beer terrace at the back of the pub, which will offer live DJ sets and music performances. The site has a total capacity of up to 350 people, including space for 120 people in the beer terrace outside.

The beer terrace will be open until 10pm when everyone will move into the cellar bar area to continue their socialising until 2am at weekends. The pub will also run a quiz every Tuesday from June 27.

Rebecca Knowles, general manager, will run the pub alongside her partner, Lukas Hornby, who runs Fuse Art Space at Rawson Quarter, Bradford.

She said: “We just want to get going. We really want to get stuck in. The staff can’t wait.

“It’s beautiful. I love all of this old Victoria stuff, the stained glass windows, I can’t get over them.

“It is like two different businesses here. There is a nightclub-type vibe outside and downstairs and a classic pub upstairs.

“People we have spoken to are chuffed that it’s going to re-open.”

The Beehive is in addition to the Inglenook Inns & Taverns-managed division.

James Waddington, chief executive of Inglenook Inns, said: “It’s a really good opportunity.

“It’s fantastic and it has a fantastic beer garden too. It’s exciting. There are lots of opportunities to run private events here.”

It will hold an invite-only event on Thursday, June 15, the day before its official opening to the public.

On Saturday, June 17 there will be DJs on the site’s terrace between 4pm and 8pm, free entry.

This will be followed on the same day by Wave, a ticketed event, held from 8pm to 2am, when a host of DJs will take to the decks.

The venue’s opening weekend will close on Sunday, June 18, with a free DJ on the terrace event between 2pm and 5pm.

The Beehive will be open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 4pm and midnight, Fridays and Saturday from noon to 2am and Sundays between noon and 11pm. The venue will be closed every Monday.
