A BREWERY which launched in Bradford is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Northern Monk Brewery began life in a cellar in Bradford 10 years ago when it was launched by Russell Bisset and David Bishop in 2013.

It started out in Greengates with advice and support from the Rising Stars programme backed by Bradford Council and Bradford Chamber of Commerce.

The company, which has brewed over 1,400 different beers over the years, has since expanded. Their beer is brewed across two sites in Leeds.

The first brewery is at the Old Flax Store, a Grade II listed mill in Marshall Street, Holbeck, where the company has been since 2014. It is home to its LDS Refectory tap room.

They expanded into a second much larger brewery, Sydenham Road, in April 2017. Northern Monk also has a refectory in Manchester.

To begin its tenth-anniversary celebrations, the brewery has been tweeting this week.

One tweet highlighted the following information: "Northern Monk began life in a cellar in Bradford 10 years ago this year. In that decade we’ve brewed 1,400 different beers (one cheese and onion lager), championed 41 of the North’s freshest through our Patrons Projects, donated over £60K through our Faith in Futures foundation, opened two refectories and brewed the equivalent of six million pints of Faith (thanks for having Faith)."
