A CORONATION Street actor was suited and booted by a Bradford tailoring firm for a major awards ceremony.

Jude Riordan, who plays Sam Blakeman, 11, in ITV1’s Coronation Street, wore a suit made by IK Collections, on Westgate, to the British Soap Awards. The ceremony will be screened on ITV1 on Tuesday, June 6 from 8pm.

He was one of the nominees for the best young performer prize at the event, but missed out to Lillia Turner, who plays Lily Slater in EastEnders.

The youngster’s character first made his appearance in the long-running soap in 2020 and is the son of characters Nick Tilsley and Natasha Blakemore, who was played by Bradford-born actor Rachel Leskovac until her character was killed off in 2021.

Jude posted a picture of him wearing the suit at, and after, the ceremony, writing: “The suit! Best suit I've ever worn and everyone loved it! Thank you so much to IK Collections for dressing me for the British Soap Awards.”

Meanwhile, IK Collections will mark National Tailors Day on Wednesday, June 7, with a special event at their shop on Westgate.

The event, between 3pm and 5pm, will see tailors on hand to teach people basic skills on sewing.
