A group of young girls collected more than 20 bags of rubbish after suddenly deciding to clean up their village.
Darcey Lloyd was playing outside with friends Neve Doran and Mia Paine when she spotted rubbish behind a bush.
It comes after the youngsters learnt about litter picking and the potential risks involved at school.
The trio rallied together to spend an afternoon gathering litter from the streets of Queensbury.
The friends now plan to hold more litter picks over the summer holidays.
Darcey said: “We saw lots of litter. We just never see people doing litter picking so we thought it would be good.
“I was playing out with my friend Niamh and her friend Mia and we saw litter on this field in the bush. We all thought, right we should change this because it’s not looking nice. We went to my house and my dad gave us a pair of gloves and a big bag.
“People said we were gone for two hours.
“It made me feel happy.”
In a message to others, she said: “If you wanted to pick something up just make sure that it’s not dangerous. If they keep picking rubbish up then it’s going to help the planet more.”
