THERE is so much nature and greenery for us to explore here on our doorsteps in Bradford and there's no better time to get out and about than the summer months.

With that in mind, we asked our readers what their favourite walks in Bradford were and they came back with many suggestions.

One reader suggested Judy Woods in Wyke. Judy Woods is the collective name given to the largest woodland site managed by Bradford Council in the south of the district.

The wooded area comprises Judy Wood, Old Hanna Wood, Low Wood, Doctor Wood, and Royds Hall Great Wood.

Another highly recommended route is Spring Woods in Baildon.

The route - nearly 5km - can be accessed via Baildon Station and provides ample opportunity to get to one with nature. The beck can be heard running through the area and the birdlife near the dam is something you want to see.

The Leeds Liverpool canal from Saltaire was also a popular destination.

If you walk in the direction of Bingley, you reach the iconic Five Rise Locks, while in the other direction, you reach the Apperley Bridge Marina and can go further on to Leeds.

And the St Ives Estate in Harden is always a wonderful choice for a walk.

It covers 550 acres and has a Grade II listing in the English Heritage National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Interest.

With a play area for little ones and picnic benches to enjoy a pack-up, it would be the perfect way to end the school holidays.
