A LEEDS United footballer was spotted at an Italian restaurant following the club's relegation.

The Whites' three-year Premier League stay came to an end this past weekend after a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Wilfried Gnonto was one of the few bright sparks to don the Elland Road turf this season.

The 19-year-old grabbed a meal at Cleckheaton's Tappino's on Tuesday night.

The Italian national visited the restaurant earlier this year on the back of a man-of-the-match performance against Cardiff City in the FA Cup.

Owner Pino Bianco told the Telegraph & Argus in January: "He loved the food.

"I think he appreciated the fact that we do not do traditional Italian food. We do more tapas Italian.

"He was not a snobby kind of guy, he had no problem taking pictures with people."

It is not the first time Pino has catered for Leeds players with former stars Gaetano Berardi and Ezgjan Alioski previously eating at the restaurant.

He added: "They appreciate small little dishes rather than a huge meal.

"Everyone expects them to be different but they are just down-to-earth people. They are not expecting miracles. It is always a pleasure to cook for them."
