A MAN has been spared an immediate prison sentence for headbutting and punching a partygoer in an unprovoked attack that loosened up to five of his teeth.

George Sharp, 30, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at a house on November 20 last year.

Prosecutor Paul Canfield told Bradford Crown Court that the victim was in the kitchen after 9pm when Sharp ran up and headbutted and punched him.

Witnesses spoke of Sharp ‘raging around’ before the attack.

The man sustained four or five loosened teeth, Mr Canfield said. He had declined to make a victim personal statement.

The court heard in mitigation that Sharp, of Tanhouse Park, Hipperholme, had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

He had a partner and a young child and he was the main breadwinner for the family.

He realised the seriousness of what he had done and was willing to comply with any conditions if he was spared immediate custody.

Recorder Kama Melly KC said it was a prolonged and unprovoked assault but Sharp had full-time employment and a stable home life.

He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with 15 rehabilitation activity days and 150 hours of unpaid work.
