MORE than 200 workers from Yorkshire Building Society took on a walking challenge in aid of Age UK.
Colleagues from the Society’s head office and network of branches undertook the Whirlow Walk challenge in the Peak District with a choice of 12 or 20 mile routes.
The collective effort of staff from across the county raised more than £24,000 for the Society’s charity partnership with Age UK.
It will go towards helping the charity run their Age UK Advice Line – a national telephone service for older people and those who care about them, helping with the cost-of-living challenges.
Alex Spragg of Yorkshire Building Society said that staff had risen to the latest challenge.
“Collectively they’ve raised a fantastic amount of money which will make a huge difference to older people in need.”
The organisation’s two-year charity partnership with Age UK aims to raise £1m by July.
