FIREFIGHTERS have been visiting a local care home as part of International Firefighters’ Day earlier this month.
Crews from Rastrick Fire Station visited Lindley Grange Bupa Care Home, giving residents a chance to tour a fire engine and try out the hose too.
Rebecca Crowe, activity co-ordinator at the care home in Huddersfield, said: “It was wonderful for the fire crew to visit us and let our residents experience some of the engine’s equipment - it shows there’s nothing too big we can’t try.
“Both the residents and the staff really enjoy these visits as we love to be involved with the local community and it’s a great chance for our resident with dementia to try new things. The smiles it gives are heart-warming for all the staff to witness.”
Residents at the home are now looking forward to more visits from the firefighters in the coming months.
