A RESTAURANT chain is now looking to the future after the sad closure of one of its sites in the Bradford district.
Kashmiri Aroma is run by Tariq Mahmood, Waheed Akhtar, Nadeem Akhtar, Imran Khan and Majid Jahangir.
The five brothers run four restaurants in Yorkshire - including two in Bradford.
The brothers had one other restaurant, on Coutance Way between Burley-in-Wharfedale and Ilkley, but that has now closed its doors.
"We had to close our site at Ilkley two weeks ago because the lease was up," said Waheed Akhtar.
"We started that restaurant in September 2008 and were sad to close it.
"We treated the people at Ilkley like our family and so we were really sad to close that site. But the lease was finished and they sold the building."
Although they were sad to see the restaurant close, the five brothers remain busy with two restaurants in Bradford - one on Keighley Road in Frizinghall and another on Northgate in Baildon which opened its doors in January.
It is located at the former Jani's Restaurant has a seating capacity of 45.
There are also restaurants in both Wakefield and Sheffield.
The Frizinghall restaurant opened its doors in October 2019.
"It was really busy when we first opened it but then Covid hit and like everybody else there have been some struggles after Covid," Mr Akhtar said.
In addition to its seating capacity of 100, the restaurant has a banqueting hall for weddings and private parties. The restaurant also now serves alcohol.
"We use family recipes in our cooking that go back 80 years," he added.
"We're just starting a buffet evening from next week (May 28 and 29).
"It'll be every week on Sunday and Monday evenings from 5pm to 8.30pm.
"It's a special offer that has proved very popular at our Wakefield and Sheffield restaurants, and at Ilkley when our restaurant was opened there."
