A BRADFORD man is set to tackle an ultra-marathon challenge running through the mountains of the Lake District.
Ethan Averill, 25, of Bingley, will compete in the Lake District Ultra Challenge on June 10 to raise money for MIND, a mental health charity that has helped people he knows.
Ethan will tackle the 100km/62-mile challenge, which sets off from Kendal Rugby Club and does a loop route around Lake Windermere.
"I've always been into my running," said Ethan. "I've run marathons and 50k races before and I've done a lot of running on the canal over the years.
"But this one will be a challenge because of the mountain running.
"The event is an annual challenge in the Lake District.
"The terrain will definitely be a big challenge but it's one I know I can do."
Ethan also explained why he wants to raise as much money as possible for MIND.
He said: "I've got a close relationship with some people who have been helped by MIND.
"They offer counseling immediately for people and with the NHS under the strain it is and people facing long waits for referrals, MIND can give help straight away.
"They also signpost people to other organisations who can help."
