A BANNED driver who got behind the wheel again has been jailed.
Matthew Hornby was caught driving on Kirkgate in Shipley, in June 2021, despite already being disqualified.
He had previously pleaded not guilty, but at a recent hearing at Bradford and Keighley Magisrates’ Court, the 33-year-old admitted the offence.
Court documents show that Hornby, of Chywoone Avenue, Newlyn, Cornwall, drove a large goods vehicle or passenger-carrying vehicle.
Magistrates sentenced Hornby to 12 weeks imprisonment, at the hearing which took place on April 27.
They found that the offence was so serious as it was committed while Hornby was already subject to a suspended sentence order.
No separate penalty was given for driving without third-party insurance.
The defendant was also ordered to pay £154 towards funding victim services.
