A BRADFORD hair salon is celebrating after scooping both a regional and national award at the Hair and Beauty Awards (HBA) in Birmingham.

"It was a VIP red carpet event, so we were totally blown away," said salon owner Elise Mongan.

"We were so happy to win the regional award. Winning one was great but it's so emotional to win the national category as well.

"I'm lucky to have won. I'm quite speechless about it.

"There were hundreds and hundreds of entries. It was a pinch-me moment.

"I feel really good about it as we have just gone from strength to strength in our local salon building a beautiful loyal client base.

"I have managed to win four awards in the space of a few months - for best customer experience twice, best colour salon and best luxury hair boutique.

"It’s a massive achievement for my brand and my customers."

Elise also talked about her passion for colouring hair and a new technique she has created.

"I've created my own bespoke colour technique, the Mega Lift and Blend by Elise, and I'm teaching people around the country how to work with different types of hair.

"My passion is colour and competition is fierce in the industry as there are a lot of artists out there.

"I have also been selected by my colour brand, Italy Hair Fashion, to represent them in once of the biggest exhibitions in London which is called Colour World.

"This is where lucky hair artists such as myself get selected from their colour range suppliers to go get creative on stage in the colour works community.

"I'll show off my bespoke techniques and creative flair for hair along with showing the hair world how amazing my colour brand is.

"This opportunity won’t come around often and this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me.

"It's great they've chosen our salon to represent them.

"We're taking our creative flair to London."

Colour World London is taking place today and tomorrow - May 14 and 15.

"This is a very special achievement for me, especially just after winning Best Colour Salon," added Elise. I feel very blessed."
