PEOPLE living at a Bradford district care home received a very special visit.

Wingfield Care Home, Bingley, surprised its residents with alpacas, leaving smiles on their faces.

The visit was part of the care home's plan to book as many fun things as possible.

Sue Sroka, activities manager at the care home, said: “The residents loved it.

“Animal therapy is such a great way to help dementia patients.

“When the alpacas came to their rooms, it changed their face from a world of dementia to that of happiness.”

The residents enjoyed stroking the alpacas' long necks and were surprised they were capable of going up and down the lift.

Sue added: “People say alpacas spit, but there was none of that.

“It was like they knew what the residents needed and we hope they come back again.”
