A 39-YEAR-old man has been jailed after being caught behind the wheel of a BMW in Bradford while banned from driving.
Ryan Hellas appeared before magistrates on May 10, 2023, and pleaded guilty to driving on Harrogate Road in Bradford, on April 9, 2023, while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence.
He admitted a further charge, this time failing to comply with a community order and was resentenced for the original offences of assault by beating and a public order offence, which both took place in October 2019.
He received a four-week prison sentence for the driving offence, and a further 12 weeks for the assault, totalling a 16-week sentence.
He also admitted a further driving offence, of using a motor vehicle without third-party insurance, for which there was no separate penalty.
Hellas, of King Alfred’s Way, Meanwood, Leeds, appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court.
Court documents show magistrates took into account the defendant’s flagrant disregard for court orders in determining the sentence.
They added that he had a “wilful and persistent failure to comply with the requirements of a community order”.
Hellas was also disqualified from driving for a further 16 months.
