Road closures and diversions will be in place for five weeks as part of plans to modernise Bradford's gas network.
Northern Gas Networks has planned the essential works alongside Bradford Council.
Starting on May 27, 2023, the gas works will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Bradford.
The ageing main has undergone several emergency repairs in recent months and it has now been prioritised for urgent replacement.
The ageing metal pipework will be replaced by new, more durable plastic pipes and prepare the network to transport alternative greener fuels, such as hydrogen in the future.
Some traffic management measures will be put in place in order to protect the public and let engineers carry out the work safely.
There will be a road closure in place for the full duration of the works on Valley Road - from Petros Textiles Ltd to the junction of Queens Road.
The road closure may be extended if difficulties in the mains configuration are later identified.
Traffic will be diverted to Canal Road, Station Road and back on to Queens Road. Signs will be displayed for motorists and a full signed diversion put in place.
VMS signs are in place.
Work will also be carried out in customer properties.
