A POLICE scene has been in place this morning following the discovery of a body in a canal.
Officers were called to the scene, near The Railway pub in Calverley, at 6.15am today.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "The body of a male was removed from the water, and he was pronounced dead at the scene."
One man who lives nearby said: "All I can say for any family, friends, it's going to impact their lives. I just wish them well."
One neighbour said: "I'd just got back from work. One of the police came over and spoke to me. First it was an ambulance, there was about three first responders, about three ambulances and a fire brigade turned up and it was just lots of police after that."
The police force has since confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office has been informed.
