A BRADFORD school has welcomed back a lady who was its 'Coronation Queen' 70 years ago.
Pauline Kemp was given the role at Swain House Primary School in 1953 by her friend Shirley when Queen Elizabeth II took to the throne.
The pair are still friends to this day and, coincidentally, were in London together when the Queen died, so they laid a white rose at Buckingham Palace.
Upon her return to the school, Pauline presented a special coronation assembly for the children in Years 1 to Year 6.
She brought in photographs and newspaper articles which were shared on the big screen.
Pauline also showed pupils a coronation cup and golden spoon which were presented to all children at the time of the Queen's coronation.
After the assembly, she then visited the Reception year group to share stories and showed them a King Teddy.
Clare Pugh, headteacher of Swain House Primary School, said: "We were thrilled when Pauline contacted us and were very excited when she agreed to attend a special coronation assembly to share her experience of the coronation in 1953.
"It was also lovely to show her around the school she attended 70 years ago."
