A BRADFORD man has been jailed for getting behind the wheel of an Audi A3 while banned.
Hamza Shafi, 24, of Cloudsdale Avenue in Bradford, admitted driving while disqualified on April 18, 2022.
He appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court who sentenced him to 14 days imprisonment.
Court documents show magistrates found the offence so serious because he had initially given a false name and address to the police, and also because of the distance driven.
Shafi was caught on Tofts Grove in Brighouse, and admitted the offence at a hearing on April 27, where he was then sentenced.
He also admitted driving without insurance and was banned from driving for nine months upon release.
Shafi must also pay £128 to the courts as a surcharge to fund victim services.
