A TEENAGER is juggling her studies with helping to raise more cash for her Bradford City-inspired fundraising in aid of the burns unit.

Georgia Thornton, 16, sells claret and amber-coloured ribbons in aid of the unit via her social media channels and in person at Bantams matches.

She has raised more than £15,000 for the burns unit since November 2017 by selling the ribbons.

People can buy the ribbons for a minimum donation of £1 for the burns unit.

Georgia, who lives in Morecambe, will be selling the ribbons in person to fellow Bantams' fans on Monday, May 8, at the club’s final game of the regular season in League Two against already-promoted Leyton Orient at Valley Parade.

People can also contact Georgia through her Bradford City Ribbons' Twitter (BCAFC_RIBBONS) Instagram (bcafc_ribbons) and Facebook accounts (Bradford City Ribbons) to have a ribbon posted out.

City's match against Leyton Orient is set for a bumper crowd and the club has already announced more than 19,500 tickets for the fixture have been sold.

It could also be a crucial clash for the Bantams who still have a chance of automatic promotion, if they can beat Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday, May 3, and then defeat Orient - and if other results go City’s way.

If they don’t, City would enter this year’s League Two play-offs.

Georgia is in her first year at college studying for A-levels in geography, environmental sciences and psychology. She plans to go to university and is looking for a career in criminal psychology.

She said: “I love being able to make something for such a good cause.

“I’m making and selling the ribbons while I’m revising for exams.

“People have told me about their family being at the stadium. It is close to people’s hearts and close to my heart.

“It’s fun to be able to make them and people can contact me via social media."

She added: “I think City have a good chance of going up, but I don’t want to jinx it. I do think we have done quite well this season. All of my family are season ticket holders.”

Georgia will also be attending the Bradford City Fire Memorial Service, which will be held in Centenary Square on Thursday, May 11 at 11am.

The Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit at the University of Bradford was founded by the late Professor David Sharpe following the fire disaster at Valley Parade on May 11, 1985, where 56 people died and 258 were injured.
