A care home in Bradford says it has “fallen below the high standards we expect” following an inspection.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) visited Manningham's Park View Road, run by Voyage Care, across two dates in February.
The service, which cares for people with learning disabilities and autism, was given an overall ‘Requires Improvement’ rating.
As part of the focused inspection, the home was rated ‘Requires Improvement’ for safety and leadership.
A spokesperson for Voyage Care said the care home’s teams are “proactively working” on three recommendations for improvement.
The CQC’s report said: “Medicines were safely managed and medicines records were accurately completed.
“Staff knew people well and we observed positive interactions. Improvements needed to be made to the environment people lived in, to ensure it was clean and well maintained.
"Inconsistencies in support records did not provide staff with sufficient guidance to safely support people.
“People and their families told us staff were kind and supported them well.
“We observed staff interacting with people in a kind and compassionate way. There was a lack of encouragement for people to be engaged in everyday living skills and activities such as cooking, cleaning and laundry tasks.
“Quality assurance processes had not identified all the concerns we identified during our inspection.
“People and staff were positive about the registered manager and stated that they were approachable and fair to all staff members, and new the people supported well.
“Some support planning did not always assist people to lead inclusive and empowered lives. Some of this was due to the environment. The registered manager understood further work was needed regarding the building and environment and shared renovation plans regarding this.”
In a statement, Brian Flynn, Voyage Care’s managing director for the North region, said: “Whilst we are pleased the CQC’s report recognised people are supported with kindness and compassion at Park View Road, and the open and honest culture of the team, we are disappointed to have fallen below the high standards we expect of ourselves at the time of their inspection.
"Their report identified three recommendations for improvement, and we are proactively working on these areas to ensure a swift return to our sector-leading standards of care at Park View Road.
“Our purpose is to provide great care and support, and we take our responsibilities to the people we support and their families extremely seriously."
