MORE detail of plans to redevelop part of Shipley Library to create a resource for local businesses have been revealed.
Exhibition space at the town centre library has been earmarked for a “business enterprise hub” that will be created using the cash from Shipley’s £25m Towns Fund allocation.
The new facility will offer resources and advice to local business start-ups, and the space will also be used to showcase local entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Proposals to create a new provision at the library have previously been announced as being part of the Towns Fund, but with the Towns Fund Board’s meeting not being held in public, there has been little detail on the plans since.
Minutes of the board’s meeting from February have recently been published, and shine a bit more light on the library plans.
The minutes say: “Funding will be used for acquiring equipment, resources, and refurbishment and for a dedicated member of staff to set up and embed the hub and train existing staff.
“The library is a key landmark in our community.
"These upgrades will not only enhance its ability to support businesses and local people, but will also help drive more people back into our town centre.”
The minutes also reveal that at the time of the meeting, the board were in the process of appointing builders to carry out the work needed to re-open the town centre public toilets.
