Tempting Turkish dishes with a classic influence

The life and soul of any restaurant is the food that comes out of the kitchen. Having reorganised their menu and updated the methods of preparing dishes, Istanbul Restaurant fuse traditional recipes with modern techniques.

If you’re after a light starter to whet your appetite or fancy something to share, you’ll be spoilt for choice with a wide range of cold and hot mezes.

To start you off, there’s garlic mushrooms cooked in a creamy garlic sauce and served with aromatic fried onions and peppers. If that’s got your stomach grumbling, you can also tuck in to a mixed hot mese platter – boasting several authentic Turkish delicacies including grilled halloumi, sucuk sausages and wonderfully flaky Sigara Boregi pastries filled with feta and parsley.

Moving on to the mains, lovers of meat-based meals will find plenty to please their tastebuds. The charcoal grill is the king of the kitchen, here’s just a small glimpse of what might find its way to your plate:

  • Adana Kofte – two skewers of tender minced lamb blended with a mix of peppers and Turkish herb blend, complementing the flavour of the lamb wonderfully.
  • Chicken Shish Cubes – Eight succulent pieces of chicken breast with a wonderfully aromatic blend of authentic Turkish spices.
  • Mix Kebab – the king of kebabs, this meal for one contains three chicken wings, three lamb ribs, three cubes of chicken shish and a touch of lamb and chicken shawarma.
