REPORTED crime across Bradford increased in February compared to the previous month, according to the latest police data.

Figures from the data.police.uk website show there were a total of 6,500 crimes in the Bradford policing district in February 2023.

This compares to 6,375 during January 2023, a rise of almost two per cent.

The most common reported crime in February was again violence and sexual offences, with a total of 2,934, a rise of just 29 on the previous month.

This was followed by 690 public order offences, 588 reports of criminal damage and arson, as well as 394 reports of “other theft”, which includes theft by an employee, blackmail and making off without payment.

There were also 332 incidents of shoplifting, 340 incidents of anti-social behaviour, 329 burglaries, 272 recorded vehicle crimes.

Other crime, which includes forgery, perjury and other miscellaneous crime, accounted for 203 reports.

In addition, there were 184 drugs offences, 94 robberies, 71 reports of theft from a person, 51 possession of weapon offences, and 18 bicycle thefts.
