CO-OP has issued a statement after customers complained about an unpleasant smell in one of its stores.
Shoppers took to social media to raise their concerns about the smell at the Birkenshaw supermarket on Bradford Road.
When the Telegraph & Argus contacted Co-op, the supermarket chain said there had been an issue with a pipe that takes water away from a refrigerator.
A spokesperson said: “We work to deliver a high-quality customer experience for our shoppers, and in this instance a new valve was required on a pipe that takes water away from a refrigerator.
"The problem has now been fixed, with the new part fitted as quickly as possible.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this caused our valued customers."
