A CHART-TOPPING sensation has been announced as the final headline star for a series of live shows at a West Yorkshire attraction.

Halifax's Live At The Piece Hall 2023 promises 21 stunning nights of live music throughout June, July and August with music legends - such as Sting, Queens of the Stone Age and Madness - already announced.

BRIT Award-winning and multi-platinum-selling artist George Ezra will play at the historic venue on Thursday, July 6.

The show comes after his sell-out UK tour off the back of his third Number One album Gold Rush Kid, which features the hit singles Anyone For You and the singalong anthem Green Green Grass.

Following two blockbuster albums – Wanted On Voyage (2014) and Staying At Tamara’s (2018), both of which reached Number 1 in the UK and sold millions around the world – Gold Rush Kid was written by George and produced with longstanding collaborator Joel Pott.

The 29-year-old plays a series of massive outdoor dates this summer including headline shows at Lytham Festival, Chepstow Racecourse, Bedford Park Concerts and the Isle of Wight Festival, together with dates throughout Europe and South Africa.

His show in The Piece Hall’s open-air courtyard is presented by promoters Cuffe and Taylor and The Piece Hall Charitable Trust.

Special guests for the night will be announced very soon.

Nicky Chance-Thompson, CEO of The Piece Hall Charitable Trust, said: “What a way to close this year’s announcements with a contemporary UK chart star at the top of his game.

“George certainly has some pedigree after being asked to play at the national Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year and we can’t wait to welcome him to our historic venue.

“I can already imagine the scenes in our courtyard with beaming faces and some epic sing-along moments at what is sure to be a fantastic, feel-good gig.”

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday April 28 from ticketmaster.co.uk

The Piece Hall has welcomed more than 10.5 million visitors through its historic gates since it re-opened on August 1, 2017.

The 66,000sq ft open-air courtyard is now home to a treasure trove of high-quality independent shops, unique restaurants, bars and welcomes world-class arts and culture.

It hosts a year-round programme of events including large-scale music and sporting activities and food and drink festivals.
