TWO property company bosses have appeared in court over claims they failed to restore the gas supply to two Bradford apartment buildings.
Bhupinder Chohan and Haris Akhtar were due to stand trial at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
They have both been charged with failing to comply with an order to restore the gas supply to All Saints Hall and Trinity B Hall at Laisteridge Lane Student Village.
The charges relate to a period between May 13, 2021 and October 1, 2021 and had been brought by Bradford Council.
Two companies, B and M Properties 1 – of which Chohan is director, and Hill and Standard Development Ltd – of which Akhtar was director until last month, also face the same charges.
The trial was expected to begin on Thursday morning, and both Chohan, 55, of Keats Way, London, and Akhtar, 40, of Exchange House, Chapter Street, London, were in attendance, as were a number of prosecution witnesses.
However, magistrates were informed that the solicitors representing both Akhtar and Chohan had asked for more time to prepare for the case.
Magistrates agreed to adjourn the case, and the trial is now due to be held on September 14.
