With a diverse and multicultural client-base who call Britannia Care ‘home’, staff can call on 33 years of care profession expertise to ensure that they fulfil the unique range of religious and cultural needs of their residents.

Residents at the Girlington care home include Christians, Muslims, Sikhs and Jews – and with the Easter period being a significant religious period for many of the residents, staff have been instrumental in ensuring that all faiths are celebrate, and those wishing to participate and celebrate their faith, can do so.

Easter, Ramadan, Passover and Vaisakhi have all been celebrated during April, and at Britannia Care marking these important religious festivals is a part of the purpose-built care home’s ethos. in celebrating diversity and delivering a level of care which recognises unity through a shared humanity.

It’s not only religious occasions which are celebrated, but cultural festivals, too. And the team at Britannia Care is preparing for possibly the most important cultural occasion of the year – the coronation of King Charles III.

Last year, both residents and staff were fully engaged in celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and properly marking the subsequent passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

 Mr Choudhry Inayat Khan, who established Britannia Care over 33 years ago, with diversity and inclusion at the heart of Britannia Care’s philosophy, said: “Here at Britannia Care we have always celebrated and recognised the different faiths and cultures of the residents we care for.

“Both the Platinum Jubilee and the Queen’s funeral were occasion in which staff and residents fully participated in.

“The Platinum Jubilee celebration, in particular, was a joyous occasion, and we are hoping to provide residents with something similar to mark the coronation of the new King.”

With regards to the busy Easter, Mr Choudhry Inayat Khan, said: “Once again I must praise the staff of Britannia Care for providing events and the space for our diverse clientele to, not only celebrate their own religion’s festival, but to enjoy the events around other faiths.

“At Britannia Care we give thanks that we are able to serve and care for people. A big part of that duty of care is to ensure that our residents who wish to celebrate their religious festivals can do so, fully.

“And not just at Easter or Ramadan, at Britannia Care we ensure that all religious occasions are acknowledged and appropriately marked and celebrated. Each year we also celebrate Passover and Vaisakhi, Diwali and Chanukah, too.”

Mr Choudhry’s son and fellow director, Anis Khan, said: “We have, over 33 years, seen our unique approach evolve and become the cornerstone of our strength and success.

“We are truly proud of the pioneering work we have done in providing care to people from incredibly diverse backgrounds and acknowledging and celebrating the different faiths of our residents is incredibly important to everyone at Britannia Care.

“We believe that we must care and support each other, especially in those times of greatest need.”

Britannia Care is a purpose-built care home, designed and fully equipped to look after the needs of the people they care for – corridors and doors are wide, enabling the smooth passage of those who use a wheelchair or other supportive aids. There is lift access to all floors – again, designed to accommodate wheelchairs and supportive aids used by the residents.

The Britannia Care’s multilingual staff have a long history of providing care to the area’s multicultural community, with 30 years of experience, knowledge and understanding in providing expert care to a diverse clientele.
